Pfandbrief Banks Dominate German Commercial Property Finance Market 

Within the German commercial mortgage lending market, the vdp member banks enjoy a dominant market share. Total loan outstandings were € 297.3 billion at the close of 2011, of which € 143.1 billion were within the German market. According to figures published by the Deutsche Bundesbank, loan outstandings within this domestic segment for the entire German banking sector totalled € 253.3 billion. On this basis, the member banks of the vdp had a market share of 56.5%.
